ISVFO *THE FLEET* PART1

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Tue Oct 18, 2005 11:58 am

Okay guys (and women, because I know there are plenty on simv ::);D) , not sure if you guys have heard of ISVFO. At my school we do the IB diploma and in order to get the diploma you must do something for the community, called CAS (creativity action service).

You must have 50 hrs of each discipline, and so for service a fellow simmer Robert and I started a Flight Simulator Organisation at our school, ISVFO or International School Virtual Flight Organisation. The club is after school on fridays and instructs students on how to fly a virtual aircraft, including theory and practice.

Its pretty cool because we have the schools projectors and so we can train our students in real-life size "cockpits"  ;D
For the club to happen, we needed a good fleet of trainer aircraft. I happen to have 4 students in my instruction group, who all but one applied for a virtual civilian formation, so we needed a good civilian trainer.
The nice thing is that when you do something for school, your parents are always eager to help!
:D :D They donated a fair sum of money to assemble a fleet of trainers!

So, enough talking.... After a lenthy elimination process I decided as the initial trainer for my group.....

THE FLIGHT1 CESSNA 172R

This is the plane, very nice model and textures so that it motivates the students to get it off the ground ;D;D

The VC is clear, as needed for instruction. Also, Flight1 designed this VC for frames. It gives the same frames and clarity as the 2d!

Isnt it a nice trainer? However, it is not easy to teach another, inexperienced (;)) kid to fly it....

The 2d, one of my favorite parts of this plane. It is simply amazing!

If you can solo this one in a couple of lessons, we will move onto the next aircraft in the fleet... But thats for the next episode.

I should put up some pics of the actual flying club, you should see it; we have the thrustmaster cougar, X45 and 2 sidewinders all set up, as well as my laptop, the projectors... it is so cool thanks to the school for letting this happen!  :)
Also this is great to get Flightsim of the ground in my school. People love the club; we have an applications list and need to limit the number of members! Also, we constantly get people asking us which sim they should go buy and which joysticks etc. Its a lift off over here! :)

This week it wont be possible because its UN Day on friday and the lesson schedule is canceled...

Sounds really cool Alpha, wish they had something like that at my school.

If we didn't have the most apathetic students on the face of the planet I may consider starting one ::)
