Jimbo's bad day of flying!

Well i got my flight prepared, Gatwick - Alicante.

Everything going as reason, and i thought, MMmmh ive never used the failtures before, so i set them.
I seem to know the LD 767 pretty well but here;s where i my skills come into use again.

Climbing out from gatwick..

And then my failture happens, left engine goes and i try to get it back up, but in the bloody meantime i also accidently cut out the right engine!....so im a glider!
And that was to cut a long story short!
And this "fan thing" comes out and gives me power, dont ask why i call it that, im still annoyed for setting the failtures. Knowing aviation it will be called "external power diognostic plant"...but "fan thing" sounds better....i wouldn't mind the proper name?

Image

And i find my self an airport where i can try and land this very large glinder, infact ATTEMPT to land.
I put the gear down and look what happens!

The stupid thing gets stuck!

Have i had a bad day at flying or what!?

LOL....never again Engines Failtures!

James

I love GA ........... but I also love a challenge. I don't set failures I induce them myself . OK predictable but interesting too. ;D

Great shots!

These big jets are supposed to be easier to fly than my favorite ole GAs.  I don't have the LD767, only big jet I have is the PMDG 737, which is actually pretty easy to fly, as compared to my Beech King Air which requires me to like turn like 6 different buttons just to get the engines to start properly!

Again, I don't know much about the LD767, but im thinking they have backup hydraulics just to get the gear cranking again... or just drop the thing completely.

And its alright calling it the "Fan thing".  Technically, im a maintenance engineer and I still call it that  ;D

Jimbo,

The RAT wikll give you some power depending on the airspeed.  The aircraft specs will tell you what the operating range is and what systems it will operate.

It is possible that you were slow enough that when you dropped the grea.... that dropped the airspeed too low... and the RAT copuld not power the hydrayulics to finish extending the gear.

Don't know that plane.

best,

.................john

Lol! Almost every FS flight I do ends with me accidentally pressing "Ctrl+Shift+F1" whilst at 30 ft on a low pass at 600kts! Makes life far more interesting! ;D
