Well, considering that I am at the extreme other end in these shots, Long Island New York but looking West, I guess it could be pollution!  :P  ;)

Yeah, but it would RREEEEEEAAALLLLY be nice if it was possible to create water textures that accurately reflect the color of the sky!!  

Ok that's my small rant for now...
