killer crosswind

just using auto land to land at KSEA.

Thats nice!  Reminded me of this test video this guy from Boeing brought in at this Aviation Maintenance Symposium we had few months ago.  It was a 737 just like the one in the shot... it was a 30 or so crosswind just like the one in the shot... and the pilot crabbed in just like in the shot.  In the end, the pilot hit full right rudder just to get the plane straight.  Even with the full deflection of the rudders, it still came in crooked and by the way it bounced left and right on the runway you know the mechanics will be pulling an all nighter ;)

A standard profile in a crosswind like that will consist of a crab just like the one seen in the screen shot.

Just a FYI...

There is a current discussion going on at www.airliners.net about crosswind landings and airliners.  A few pilots have offered their input on standard technique.   :)
