Before and After

Postby SaVas » Mon May 23, 2005 12:44 pm

There is something to be said about Lago's FSE, and sure there have been some complaints about it for a long time, but now being able to share and upload various scenery objects people have created, there is a lot more one can do with it. Granted you will see a repetition of certain items in what I have created such as a few buildings, but thats because they are wonderfully detailed and fit the small airport look, or that rustic out in the middle of nowhere strip.

With that, this is Ultimate Terrain surrounding CAZ5 in British Columbia before:

Pretty boring, but it does have ONE AI aircraft on it so that helps with the creation, that and there are no boring default buildings on the strip...

After about 20+ total hours of adding, resizing, manipulating, and letting my creativity flow this is the outcome: Same shot with Lago FSE turned on:

Image

There are private dwellings with gas grills that show up during the spring and summer with smoke coming off of them, there are bbq pits and a bonfire, a sweep truck that is on a moving track, a vehicle also on a track, both run at different times of the day. During the winter I added a track with a plow. There are people working on things during the spring and summer, etc.

A litte bit closer.

its even surrounded by a nice wooden fence as there is a steep dropoff almost all the way around it.

Image

The bonfire and lighting, and infront of the mooney if you look closely you can see the smoke billowing up from the bbq pit.

I dont care what anyone says, FSE can be a fantastic program depending on how creative you want to be. i even have an old Isuzu at the far end of the yard that is leaning to the side as if it has flat tires. in the bed is misc old looking items like a rusty box, cylinder, an old marlboro ground sign etc.

it can be quite fun and addictive if you let your mind go.

There are some users that share their work with others in the FSE share program and to them I am thankful as they have really added to the experience

Plus its not too bad on framerates, though it takes a second to render everything so once you get close there is a little "chirp" but after that, it runs fine on a decent machine.

Now if I can figure out how to upload it and if I need to upload the tracks the items I used, etc to FSE I will share it. have no clue how to upload it all to AvSim though lol.

Hope you enjoyed,

Stephen

Marick, check out the forums on Lagos website and peruse for tutorials. There should be some there. There is also a users manual once the product is purchased that is pretty informative.

Looks good great, SaVas.  I remember checking out FSE on the Lago site, but didn't see too many screenshots. Geez man, again you've convinced me on the payware front, I think I might get FSE soon. :P

FSE is a module, so I imagine it works the same manner as with AFCad - you use top-down view in slew mode.

Actually with FSE, you can manipulate items in any view you want to. I normally do the outside view as its easiest to get the sizing of items more in line.

You can rotate, slant, raise, lower, make larger, make smaller (large and small work on 95% of the items), create moving tracks with vehicles, boats, planes (though I have not used planes however the scenery I created in the thread Somewhere way up north, there are a few tracks with moving vehicles (salt truck in winter and autumn - didnt want to use a plow as its a gravel strip lol ), and a sweep truck in spring and summer.

Plus about 30 rocking boats, and approx 10 boats that actually move around from small sport boats to sailboats to charter boats, to an oil and a cargo ship. One sailboat track is over an hour and a half long (tracks to me are the most time consuming as you have to watch where the track goes so you dont run aground or run into the water even though you can direct it so to speak)

I have also set the various sceneries up with seasons in mind. The farther north the scenery is the less seems active in autumn and winter. Fewer vehicles around, noone outside, ladders and other equipment are "stowed" away etc so at each season, or depending on the time of day, the sceneries change.

And yes, you do create it when in slew mode because you are constantly moving around checking things out, checking sizes, watching how a track is forming etc etc.

On this one there are probably 75 various items making up the scenery (probably closer to 100) and it takes a while when you are as nitpicky and as detailed as I tend to get lol.
