FS is nothing without Addons

Here are some shots of Carenado's Bonanza. I was doing a short test flight. Not of the aircraft but the terrain!
I have loaded up some freeware terrain found at all the major FS sites. It is called WUSA1.zip, WUSA2.zip and WUSA3.zip. These cover the areas of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. If you don't mind the large file size, they are terrific.
I then wanted to add to the beauty by increasing the range of my texture. I opened my FS9.cfg file and went to the terrain radius. It was set at 0 by default. So I increased it to 3 and 10. This seemed to make the terrain textures around me a bit more crisp. You might expect a bit of a frame rate drop by doing this, but if there was it wasn't much.
The problem with JPEGs is the compression. Here we are climbing out of Arlington.

Coming up on Whidby Is. The San Juan Is. and Vancouver Is. in the background.

Shot looking out to the Olympica Mts. in the background. Whidby Is. in the foreground.

Turning final into Eastsound on Orcas Is.

Parked and ready to head into town and eat at one of the best Mexican resturaunts around. The margaritas are not half bad either. If you get the chance, visit Eastsound. Plenty to see and do. You can camp right on the airport, that is what I did.
