My first payware aircraft

in my reveiw I have to say I am pretty much happy with this purchase. The only two minor let downs that can be corrected is the Rotor SFX and the position of the lights (which by the way were real off). These can be corrected. In addition I am slapping some IB_Rockets on this bad boy!

Well freshly delivered this is my very first test flight.

here is a picture of the rear section!

Engine start up (take note of the gun turret pointing straight)

Image

And now to the left (the gunners head and the targeting pod moves in the same direction as the gun turret as well)

Image

And now to the right

The maiden test flight (this is when I realized the rotor sound effects don't change pitch when you take off)

I decided when I landed back on deck to get a paint job, this one looks much more cooler

Now I am happy with this download

I altered the sound file tricked it to accept a different file which is a real Huey Cobra sound file

Then I put the Ib rockets on it to make it a real gunship! Man this is a beauty!

She really is Jared! I am guessing all payware aircrafts come with some hidden quirks that need tweaking just a bit. This one came with lights out of position (that I will correct tonight) and the sound file was wack so I replaced it with a real Cobra sound file. It is much more enjoyable to fly now. The helicopter is incredibly detailed both in 3rd person veiw and the cockpit.

The virtual cockpit is another question though. It places you in the correct place right behind the gunner and slightly higher. The problem is they positioned your seat a little to far to the right of the gunner and you don't have a pilot veiw panel.

But for $20.30 US this is exactly what I was looking for and with the corrections I made to it. This helicopter is off the hook. The handling is incredible and easy to handle in turns and landing. Touch and Go is easy!

Helicopter are hard to fly.But this one seems to be real easy to handle! I fixed the lights effects so that they display in the correct spots now. Alot of trial and error but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be!

I am just wondering how do I copy the light effects from the Boeing 737-522 United Airlines that has the rotating red becon light under its belly onto this helicopter. I can't seem to locate the section of the CFg for that aircraft that does that effect.

Mav,

What's up with the weapons hits?  Is that an add on you put in there or did the chopper come with that special effect file?

best,

The weapons are an addon file called "IB_rockets"

You can find the file for this at the website

simouthouse and look in the FS9 effects download section for it! They are nice and deliver an awesome aftermath effect as well.

I had to alter this file so that it was compatible with FS9 and not interfer with any of the other programs. if you want the altered file I have use my ICQ# and acquire it from my shared folders. I will be logged on 8pm-11pm weekday nights (EASTERN TIME).

Feel free to cop a copy any time!
