Thanks. One thing I should mention is that the scenery takes a whopping 2 gigs of space.

ysteinbuch,

I was wondering.........

That scenery looks REALLY great from altitude.  But what do you get at say 100 feet off the deck?  What happens to the autogen buildings and trees and such?  Is this just a totally flat surface when you get close up?

Appreciate a screenie at low levels if you can get a chance.

At high altitute........ it is totally awesome.

Also....... what does it do to framerates?

best,

At low levels it really doesn't look that great, but at about 3-5 thousand feet, it really starts to shine.  I primarily fly the commercial jets so this isnt too big of a deal for me.  The So Cal MegaScenery actually has autogen issues as the buildings don't exactly line up with the mesh, but there is a patch in the works to address this issue.

Yes, that's right. Flying at 3,500 feet or so provides the best results. Frame rates are great -- no loss there. I think the mountainous areas look the best, as well.

I think the reason with sceneries like this your frames don't get slower and might even get faster is because the game isn't having to search for the MSFS texture files to load them (as there are loads if you've gone snooping around in your textures folders), it just loads them out of the custom scenery folders saving time and speed and keeping your frames good.

Ysteinbuch + all,

Thanks for the comments on the low level issue.  I will be thinking about trying the NY one.... at least it is east coast.  If they get new england........ I'll try that for sure.

best,

Hey John, just to warn you...   The NY megascenery was rather disappointing for many people, as it appears the quality is not even close to that of the Southern California eddition.  Just thought I'd warn you.  From the screen shots I have seen, it does not appear to be as spectacular.
