No, but he wanted to buy the BA Concordes after their retirement to continue flying them, but BA, um, didn't want to. 'Nuff said.

I think he contacted Air France as well, but no go, apparently. Oh well ...

Don't right off Mr Branson's attempts just yet......

BA, legally, apparently have no right to ground the aircraft and say that it cannot be sold to anyone.

The British public, the tax payer, paid for the aircraft back in the 60's/70's as it was a govt. funded project, in collaboration with the French Govt.
Some very high powered lawyers are working towards Richard Bransons offers to purchase 2 or 3 aircraft.
BA are loosing popularity left , right, and centre over their cescision to ground possibly the greatest passenger plane ever.
Their is even speculation, that the loss of concorde could spell the demise of BA.
Too much essence is put on the crash in France, high running costs, low demand. The truth is BA is loosing money on its domestic services with the continued growth in low cost airlines.
Mr Branson is confident that he would be able to run the aircraft for a profit, not a loss.
An offer was even made to BA to co-operate the aircraft, with both airlines represented on the aircraft, like the Singapore/BA partnership in the late 70's/early 80's.
Think its about time that BA got their heads out of their own butts and look at the options available to them with Mr Branson.

I live in a small village at the end of 27L at Heathrow, and for the last two weeks, the roundabout on J14 on the M25, the colnbrook bypass, a small road called spout lane and various other areas have become packed with people waiting to see her take off.
Quite a 'lump in your throat' experience....

Never give up hope...

Well said!!

I was in a bus going from Heathrow to Gatwick the other week, and the bus driver pointed out the crowd at the end of the runway, waiting for Concorde to take off.

I couldn't agree more - it is a crying shame that Concorde is being grounded, especially as it's one of the only parts of BA that appears to be making a profit.

Power to Branson's arm!

Sorry late replying - I've been out flying ... in a microlight!! Isn't it strange how life imitates art sometimes?

Daz,
Yep - I like the Tu-144 also - there's a great model around somewhere of the 144-S (Avsim I think) with the canards and all. Gets to Mach 2.3 - or so it says. Haven't got it that far yet.

Scott,
In order to get off the ground before the end of the runway in Concorde, you have to reduce the fuel load to 75-80%. You can still get to NY, though!

:)

Triple,
The Virgin livery is in the SimV pages. I used Rob Barendregt's afterburner downloads (from Avsim) and modified the engine and smoke effects myself, from other packages - which is why you won't see them posted.
