Wow Harold, just got around to viewing the series. :o

Awesome shots [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I hate to be a pain but the thread title, for me anyway, is 4 boxes. Is it meant to be like that or am I missing a specific font?

Thank you guys! I really appreciate all the comments! These images have been a lot of work and - although I really like them - the fact that you like them all makes is all worthwhile. Feedback is something you should leave in every tread, even if you don't like the shots. Tell the artist what you don't like and why. And ulitmately, tell them how to improve those 'flaws'. I always make an effort to do that.

I hate to be a pain but the thread title, for me anyway, is 4 boxes. Is it meant to be like that or am I missing a specific font?

The tread title are four Chinese characters displaying 'Kai Tak Airport'.

If you can't see those characters then you're either missing a font or your browsers encoding is not set correctly. Though I am not a 100% sure I think that the font you are missing might be Verdana, as that is the default font for this website. However I think it is highly unlikely that you would be missing that font. I think you would notice. You could check if you have it in C:/Windows/Fonts. If it is there then it must be another problem ... if it's not, then let me know and I'll send you a copy of my font!

I think it is more likely that your browser isn't using the correct encoding. Which browser are you using Mitch?

I have the Verdana font, so it can't be that. I use IE7, I went to 'View' then to 'Encoding' and 'Western European (Windows)' was bulleted. Is this what you mean by encoding and should this be selected?

I appreciate the help Harold. :)

Try 'Western European (ISO)' which is what I have ;)

Hmm, that's not it. I'm now at a freshly installed machine and I also have those four squares with IE7 and 'Western European (ISO) encoding.

Very strange ... I'll investigate it more.

Harold,

Just want to say you make 'the ol' gal' look great in your series.  I think if simmers followed along with the plane spotting section in the 9Dragons Pilot's Guide V2 they would find all sorts of interesting angles and shots usually never discovered.  I have been playing around with this airport for four years now and I still surprise myself at what I see sometimes.

Thanks for choosing 9D for your 5000th post and making our scenery look even better...  ;)

Thank you so much Marcus! I appreciate that you - as one of the designers of this fantastic scenery - take the time to comment on my screenshots. That means a lot to me!

I've enjoyed your scenery very, very much and I've put a lot of effort into making these shots amongst the best I've ever taken. Please feel free to use these screenshots on your website. I have a few more from this series that you might like ...

Harold,

I see the characters just fine.  But I have the Microsoft Asian character sets (Japanese + Chinese) installed on my machine.

Maybe you do too?

best,

Thank you Dave and yes ... it's a great feeling. Though I find these shots to be really nice, I didn't expect to get this much feedback on them :D

I have the Microsoft Asian character sets (Japanese + Chinese) installed on my machine.

Thank you very much John! That sure is a brilliant remark!

Mitch, I may have found the solution for your issue.

The issue does not seem to occur on Windows Vista as the necessary fonts and language files seem to come preinstalled with the operating system.
So I'm guessing that you're on Windows XP and therefore you may need to install the support files for East Asian languages.

Do the following:

1. Click Start - Control Panel.

2. Select the Regional and Language Options.

3. On the Languages tab, select the checkbox labeled Install files for East Asian languages.

4. Click OK when a dialog box appears informing you of the storage requirements for the language files.

5. Click OK on the Languages tab.

6. Another dialog box appears requesting a Windows XP installation disk or network share location where the language support files are located.

7. Insert a Windows XP installation CD or browse to the appropriate (network) location and click OK.

8. Microsoft Windows will install the necessary files and prompts for you to restart the computer.

9. Click Yes to restart the computer.

Hope this will solve it for you ;)
