Hi Frank

Just the main base area, immediate surrounds like the Burn Pits and Ammo Dumps, and the lakebed I'm affraid.....

I gather the Mail Box is quite a long way away from the base....?? And I want to focus on the main flying and base area....

And I'm not even sure where Noth Gate is....... :-[ lol.

Cheers

Wow  :o :o

That scenery looks awsome Carl, really great!!

Just a suggestion, as I'm sure you've got plenty of work on already with this project - but how about 'beefing up' the default little town of Rachel, possibly with a small private strip & a few buildings, so that people could fly nightime 'ufo spotting' trips out of the nearest town?

Once again, the scenery already looks amazing & i'm really looking forward to it being released.

Keep up the good work,

TSC.

Hi TSC

Damn...is Rachel even more a secret than Area51??...lol. I've just had a look on google earth, and though I think I've found the town...and wow, is it small...I can't seem to find the strip?

If you wan't to PM with some location details, I will look into it......it can't be a huge job, thats for sure........so I will certainly entertain the idea...same goes for North Gate....is North gate the same as the Main gate???......

Any help on this would be greatfuly accepted.

Cheers

Hi Carl,

Rachel sure is a small town & I'm pretty sure there is no airstrip there in real life, I was thinking of just creating a little private airstrip for FS9. Although if you are going for realism, then I would be quite happy to hunt around for the nearest available real life strip to Area 51.

Rachel is more well known because it is the nearest town to Area 51 & a lot of UFO hunters stop by there - I guess it is used like a base camp before heading out into the hills.

A bit pushed for time right now, but I'll PM you some details & pics later if you like.

Cheers.

I saw the first renders on the AlphaSim boards, and my jaw nearly hit the floor. Anyone who knows me personally knows I am a HUGE Area 51 fanatic. As a rule, I stay far away from payware scenery, but you'd have to shoot me to keep me away from this one!

I'm really impressed by all the different AI, and all the autogen detail. It's that bit of extra effort that really makes me smile, and guarantees that I'll be shelling out a few notes for this scenery.

Speaking of the AI, you wouldn't by any chance be interested in making a flyable Tacit Blue someday, would you? ;) ;D

And as for Camo Dudes, that sounds like a great idea, I had'nt thought of that one at all, thanks..........:)

Carl,

Great to see this coming out...... I've had a lot of fun palying with the Area51 concept in fs2002 and fs2004.

John beat me to it, but if you have a look at http://www.dreamlandresort.com , Maps and GPS, Rachel and Tikaboo valley map with GPS coordinates, you can find all the different gates and stuff with their GPS coordinates. The north gate is the one near Rachel.
And be sure to check out the photo section.

Man, I haven't been this excited over a FS-addon since the LevelD 767.  ;D  Keep up the great work.

Cheers, Frank.

Hi All

Thanks again for all the great feedback...

Yup, I'm aware of the dreamland resort, there is no way I could have got the buildings done without it, it has prooven to be invaluable..... :)

As for flyable Tacit Blues and Auroras.....well...the original plan was to have the AI models good enough, so that you would be able to fly them, and take screenshots, wihtout them looking like low-poly AI planes.......they are pretty high poly as far as AI planes go...the Aurora is about 10,000 polygons, the Tacit Blue is about 8,000........the only problem is doing the VCs.....one of the reasons I'm taking a break from Aircraft is after the AlpahSim Eurofighter Typhoon, I wanted to get away from doing VCs........knobs and swtiches don;t excite me that much....lol.

Not to mention the refernce for Aurora cokpit is Nil..and I've not seen any for the Tacit Blue either....

So I was hoping that I could provide you chaps with the External models, and that maybe other users could come up with panels or VCs......as I gather in FSX, VCs can be interchagable between aircraft........???

I'd also like to see if FSX can do a two stage orbiter like BlackStar.....then we could do B-52s dropping X-15s and so on...it could be a lot of fun.......we'll see...it's all still to play for......

Main concerne at the moment is getting the base built, so I better crack on....I'll keep an eye on things here, as you guys are coming up with some great ideas........

Thank you all very much indeed.  :)

That sounds good enough for me. A VC is not really important for me, just the fact that the craft will be high enough quality to fly yourself makes me squeal with delight, especially since Tacit Blue is one of my most favourite aeroplanes, and it's been totally unrepresented in the FS universe.

While we're on the subject, I could've sworn I'd seen a picture of TB's cockpit, but I can't for the life of me remember where...

Hi Lazerbeak

If you can dig out the shot of the Tacits Cockpit, I'll make sure that it looks good for the Aircraft model....I might make it so that the Tacit Blue External model is good enough to use as a VC model too....a stick, couple of pedals.....and then add some Gauge polys so you can add your own gauges????...I just won't do the whole "every knob and switch" thing like on the Typhoon...that hurt my brain....lol.

I'll get her up and flying by the end of next week, and post some shots of what she looks like "In-Game"...... :)

With them big windows, she's going to be great for sight seeing in VC mode..... :)

Cheers
