What kind of addons and tweaks are available, that are free as well LoL. Thanks for the reply, at the time the 9600 was not too bad and it plays almost all my games with full graphics on fine. But mine does not look like his screen shots. My water does not look that real, nor do the lights on the road look that real. Thanks for the replies

You'll have a job getting your sim to look that real anyway! Dave's been tweaking his Sim with Michael from FS-GS for a good few years now to get it to this stage. He also runs a dedicated FS computer - with no other resource draining programmes/functions on, in order to maximise the power going to the sim.

The water and lights can be explained easily; they come from the Payware 'Flight Environment' software for FS9 and are well worth the money if you want to improve your sim quality.

But you also need to make sure you PC and hardware is set up propperly in the first place for getting the max out of your Sim's graphics, else there's not much point in splashing out on graphics enhancing add-ons.
Hardly anyone has their Sims set up right - and it shows in the screen shots.
The cure for this? Flight Simulator Graphics Solutions @
www.fs-gs.com
They will configure your PC to run FS like a dream - regardless of your system specs...

Trust me, if your serious about improving your graphics and frame rates then FS-GS is THE ONLY 1st step! Go check out their webiste for more details....

Its not exactly that simple to tweak, i know with mine a lot of work has gone into the FS9.cfg and now resizing the textures thanks to Lemoncat, Water textures are a easy thing to do, mix and match is the name of the game untill you got it perfect..

Heres my sim (9800se, Athlon AMD +3400) running at its best. http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1123434283

Its taken me from the start of FS9 to get it to look like that.. what i think imo is near perfect.. a lot of work went into customizing everything lol, try Bluesphere on Avsim for a start, you may need to google it to get the authors name, then go from there.. i suggest FS Sky World as a starting point.

EDIT: The only problem with Bluesphere and FS Sky World is, if you've installed Bluesphere, dont change the sky colours with FS Sky World.. only the clouds and others..  ;)

Thanks for that, I dont mean to hijack the thread but I am thining of upgrading my video card and want to spend at most $125. I have looked at the Nvidia 6600, what do you guys think? Is it worth the upgrade from the ATI 9600 to the 6600?

A new video card wont do much to your overall sim quality/performance if your system isnt set up correctly for running FS in the first place [which It wont be if you dont like your current graphics!].

Dont spend money on a new card - you dont need it.

Use FS-GS - its much cheaper and the results will be way better than any new card you could buy!

You wont regret it I can promise you! ;)

I didnt and I'd just bought a brand new Alienware with an ATI X850 XT Platinum Edition graphics card - which was supposed to be one of the best cards out...
