Still probably looking at a rotate speed of around 160kts (one trip I took in January (cold, relatively damp) had a rotate speed of 180ish kts). And the Jag doesn't do single engine performance, even when it's light, and I particularly doubt on short see bound runways.... :)

On the back of that there would probably be a beefier (ie heavier) airframe too...

better hope you get the wire on the first try then. Or your pay checks gonna be a little light for a few months ;D

Great  8)

Theres a reason for these birds being underpowered though, they were originally intended to be supersonic trainers kinda like a European answer to the T-38 but were found to be too expensive and not really nessisary. So it was developed into a strike/recon bird. Why it wasn't re-engined I have no idea  ::)
As to carrier ops I'd be more worried about making it off the short low powered cats on the Foch/Clemaceu, with or without any significant  payload that is  :P

Havn't they just re-engined the remaining RAF Jaguars with uprated and improved variants of the RR Adour?

I think i read in Airforces Monthly that it has improved their take off performance in humid climates.

The new Adours give off a blue flame in re-heat unlike the old versions which produced a less efficient orange flame...

Indeed they have. I can't remember which Mk they're up to now as its been constantly upgraded over the past 30 years. There won't be any more now - all the engines are in the system now so they'll be no more new ones coming in and as airframes are retired there engines will become the spares for the remaining aircraft.

Everything's relative.... ;) :D
