Wings of Power B-29

Postby wifesaysno » Wed Aug 08, 2012 4:56 pm

CAF's B-29 "FiFi" has been in my area doing rides so after a few fly-overs I got the itch to dust off my WoP B-29. I bought the Wings of Power pack for CFS3 ~5yrs ago but it is taking me a while to get a handle of the big 4 engined bombers. Anyways, did some flights out of KAZO in Kalamazoo, MI where FiFi is giving rides.
Readying for take off.

Top view to show the size, she is a beast of an airplane!

Shortly after takeoff, turning West to head towards Lake Michigan

More to follow, eventually I will post pictures of the other bombers in the pack. B-17F & G, Lancaster (and a Lancaster with the Grand Slam bomb), B-24s, and Privateer.

..and one of the ways of showing which Sim is running, when the poster doesn't say which Sim it is, in their posted Screen shots!

When I see a screen shot, I am always curious which Flight Sim is being used!

I always state mine, in the shots!... ;)...!

I have to tell you folks, the B-29 on final approach has a nasty surprise if you are not paying attention 110%. Below 100kts it is very easy to provoke an unstoppable yaw anomaly until you end up pancaking it in.

Now I don't feel so bad.  I thought it was my (lack of) piloting skills that has me splatting occasionally on short final. :o

Now I can blame the SuperFort! :D

Nice shots by the way.
I love the smell of radials in the morning!

..of course, we all do these low-speed, perfect landings... :-*...!

..but what we don't encounter, in a real-life situation, is the sudden, unanticipated down-draught, and loss of lift, at the critical moment of landing! :'(...!

Now, that's scary!... :o....!
