
It's late in the afternoon when we lift off from Sitka for the short hop to Chatham.

We decide to fly across the ranges on Baronof island, while we enjoy a beautiful sunset, and a moonrise...

but on the other side of the range, the weather is not so good...

..and the engines start to splutter too, due a defective carburator heaters. Then they quit altogether...

...luckily we were over water, and we make a succesfull dead stick landing.

We radioed for help, and within an hour, a Goose of the company arrives..

..which makes a waterlanding close by.

The mechanics on the Goose brought spares and soon, we can taxi to Chatham, which is close by.
