There is a B-17 on fixed display just south of Tulare, California at Mefford Field. It's behind a fence, but you can get close enough to see that these were not big airplanes. What really impresses me is that 20 year-old kids went up in these fragile things to defend the liberty of the Free World. Over 100,000 died in them. We owe them more than we can ever repay them. My Uncle Jimmy was one of them. Killed on his third mission in December 1943. He was 19. May God Bless their souls...
