Not my usual mount...

Postby ozzy72 » Wed May 10, 2006 3:17 pm

Well a wee challenge in Nepal was thrown down the other day so I went and got the scenery (v.nice) and then decided to try my second landing (see notes on #2 screenie for why this wasn't the first) in the default Dak! No problem...
Image
My first attempt was a disaster when I found if you land on the very end of the runway you sink through to the default scenery! Bum!!!
Image
Holy **** but that brick wall at the end of the runway is getting BIG :o :o :o
Image
Stopping with inches to spare before losing the starboard wing to a wall!
Image
Image
The 225 is longer than the runway so a non-starter! Jet fighters are a piece of cake to get in and out... so next was to change the cargo and re-fuel my Dak and get her out of there...

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Aw come on ozzy, learn how to fly the DC-3!  I could have gotten it in there easy AND in less runway than you!

On short landings, put her down, kill the engines, and retract flaps

If this is Lukla
I got in with the L049.  One's real life experience of short field landings is quite useful here!!!  ;D

The problem we have here ....... is everyone SAYING they can do it ..... and none ACTUALLY doing it.

The challenge has been laid down so come on guys step up and show us what ya made of. ;D ;D

The Default Lukla is just as tricky if you have a decent mesh.

Been brushing up on my DC3 skills (haven't been flying the sim much lately)... just started a little bush-flying demo hop from Fukche, India (9000-foot runway, but field elevation is over 13,000 feet -highest in FS9?). Going to land next at (forget the name now) just over the border in Nepal; it's about the same elevation as Lukla, but the runway is 200 feet shorter.
Then I'll try Lukla... shouldn't be too rough, but that cliff at the end makes things interesting.

Screenies coming soon... ;D
