Part 2 of 2: CRJ200 LR to Nice/Cote d'Azur

Postby Steve_Butka » Tue Mar 28, 2006 1:49 am

So, we had a little problem.  Thankfully, this occurred only about 30nm out of Nice.  I declared a Mayday with ATC and the cabin crew prepared the passengers for an emergency landing.

A spotter from a mountaintop takes a shot of us descending through the clouds.
Image

About 15nm out the -200 picks up on the ILS to runway 4L.  The passengers begin to get nervous, but the aircraft was still under full control by myself and my great FO.  I was confident the landing could still be a smooth one.
Image

Even an emergency can't deny me the beauty of the Riviera's coast and surrounding ocean.
Image

On final, the stewardess tells the passnegers to brace as per FAA Safety Instructions.
Image

TOUCHDOWN!  Pretty smooth.  My troubles started on the rollin, however.  She was incredibly difficult to keep stable ont he ground due to the unequal thrust coming from my engines.  No reverse thrust to keep ourselves from any further damage.  We heard the firetrucks racing towards us as we slowed down on 4L.
Image

I turn off the runway and let the passengers out on the closest taxiway.  There was little to no damage to the aircraft though the engine will need some looking over, and all of our passngers escaped without a single bruise to their bodies.
Image

And that was that.  The End.

Man, FSPassngers throws me an emergency on my first flight, quite a surprise (and my rate is set at only 3% so this is quite an event).

Hope you enjoyed the pics. :)  comments welcomed.

Wow, happy end!

Can I use FSPassengers in my F-14? Take up a rich thrill-seeker and bounce him about till he blubbers and hurls? The most expensive projectile vomit of his life? Will I actually hear it hit the canopy? Can I eject him?

:-/ :-[  :'(  Bad, Krigl, bad!!! Bad!  :-/ :'(

Nice set and interesting to hear a little of how the add-on works, sounds cool.

Great series, serves you right for buying a cheap second hand plane!  ;)

The unknown emergencys are probably the best feature of FSP. Yes, you can set failiers in normal FS9 flight but the copilot dialog and the passengers do add greatly to the realism. Did you get a round of applause when you landed safely?

The plane had 10 hours logged on it when I bought her!  I'd call that brand new!!!   ;D

I don't recall hearing applause on landing, but to be honest I was  probably zoned in to trying to keep her on the centerline the whole time.  My end of fligt report stated that the passengers were impressed with my ability to deal witht he situation ad land smoothly so maybe the applause were there.  who knows :)
