Bugatti P-110 Racing

BUGATTI P-110 PROTOTYPE

Here's a little more from the Bugatti package by Lionheart Creations.  This is the main mother, the P-110 (P-100 and P-200 also included) complete with all kinds of cool effects, animations and other stuff.

Got to the airfield around noon and decided to put the fresh new bird through an intense inspection, inside and out.

The aircraft is designed with the pilot sitting ahead of the twin piston engines, which power the two counter-rotating props on the nose.

The engine cover lifts and moves onto two sawhorses that appear along with wheel chocks when the "wingfold" command is pressed.  The flaps (the lower set of slats) also help function as part of the speed brake (upper slats) for making tight turns around the pylons.

Looks like we're ready to get moving . . .

GO!!

Screaming along in the lead . . .

Coming around one of the turns, I forgot to hit the aerobrake and wound up in dead last.  Go figure! ::)

And then coming in for a perfect ( :P) landing.

This pack works really well with ActiveCamera, or something like it, as all of the aircraft have fully-modelled interiors.

Comments and such, please! ;D

Yeah, its real.  Ettore Bugatti was a French aircraft/car designer during the 1930s.  He created the P-100 (later converted to the P-110) as a pylon racer in 1938, but the French were short on good fighter designs, so plans were made to convert it to a fighter/recon role.  But the war came to an end before they could be effectively introduced, so only one (apparently) was made.

It was recently donated to the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, but without its two original engines.  They were (for some insane reason) removed after the aircraft was sent to the US at the end of WWII.

Excellent!

3 requests:

1. Can this be the prize in the next competition?
2. Can 'the mods' please choose my shot for the final?
3. Can everyone on this site then please vote for me?

Thanks.
