Thanks a lot for the very nice comments!!!!

About the grass - it comes from Golden Wings....but the other one SaVas mentioned looks similar. I guess it kind of has to be...

Yes, both (front and rear) cargo doors can be opened, and that from clicking inside the cockpit :o

It was certainly fun to fly, for the more serious sim pilot or fan of British aviation I'm sure it's a must-have... :)

Hi Krigl

The argosy is very old tech but easy to master.

The thing to remember is if you can see a warning lamp showing anywhere in the panel or VC it is telling you that you have forgotten to switch something on.

You will only lose engines if you are not using the anti Icing.

I see in your VC shot that you have Pitot Heater failed
showing & number 1 propeller feathered.

Keep the throttle movement as smooth as you can and don't slam them forward for takeoff and you should be fine.

It's pretty standard procedure to switch on the pitot heaters as soon as you start the engines.

Anti Icing should be turned on whenever the outside air temerature is below 5 degrees C or flying in cloud to stop ice buildup in the Dart Intakes.

I know it's a filly aircraft to fly but these are real procedures used back in the old days.

The New HS.748 i am currently building has even more realistic procedures so if you can master the Argosy
you will enjoy the 748 even more.

The Argosy release has been a bit of a didssapointment for me as i have had a lot of stick for introducing realism to the systems.

Not got anywhere near the usual interest as 90% of simmers are the CTRL E engine starter types :-[

No Reviews & no Awards as it's too complicated it seems.

(you can learn the systems in 30 minutes easy) ::)

The 748 will have a Rapidstart Button to cover these types of simmers this time and to avoid the massive e mail attack of the non RTFM people.

Regards
Rick

Whoa!!! This was a surprise! How on earth did you find this post Mr Piper?! Didn't expect to see this again...

I am greatly honoured that you chose to answer it, too, your work has brought me a great deal of pleasure (in FS, of course) ;).

I hope you didn't think I was running down your plane, far from it, it's my usual self denigrating style... my fault I can't keep it flying properly....I've sat in the cockpit of one of these in Coventry at the museum and was really excited when I heard you'd brought this out.

I must disappoint you in admitting that I am one of the 90% ctrl-e starter types; I fly mainly for the scenery, the look, the thrill, and to take and post screenshots, and the odd foolish story or two. I still know a damn good piece of work when I see it though and your plane is that!

I find it strange that you were criticised for realism, maybe you chose the wrong audience... or they chose you? Plenty of people do appreciate a quirky and realistic plane, but perhaps the Argosy just isn't popular enough for people to get enthusiastic about it. It's beautifully made, but the plane itself isn't so... beautiful.

I do think that including a ctrl-e option is a good idea for the casual simmers.... I'll certainly appreciate it in the forthcoming 748, and in the Argosy too if you or someone were to make a 'patch'.

Thanks for the tips, next time I'll at least implement those basic things and perhaps the flight will go a tad better..... and one day I'll mature a bit and start learning to fly properly, following checklists and procedures, and a realistic, challenging aircraft like the Argosy will be just what the doctor ordered...

Your work is excellent and brings a lot of people a great deal of enjoyment! Keep it up, and happy landings!

Regards

Krigl

Hi Krigl

;D ;D ;D

I find most posts as i like to provide as much support as possible.

Great shots by the way and i think your right about the Argosy being a little too obscure for many.

Thanks for the shots and your kind words though as they are appreciated.

You will be glad to hear that i have found a way to improve the framerate of the 748 over the Argosy even though the poly count is significantly higher.

& i will if possible when i get back to the Argosy 100 release add the "Rapidstart" system.
This only replaces CTRL E and does not auto control the Anti Icing.

But it does mean it's easier to jump in initially and fly rather than spending 2 hours trying to work out why the engines won't start.

I think a lot of people thought it was a bug!.

The only thing is the Rapidstart will still be missed if they don't read the manual so i can only go so far. ;)

Regards
Rick :)

Thanks for taking the time... the 'Rapidstart' sounds like a great idea, maybe draw people's attention to it somehow... :)

...and I'm looking forward to your next release (me and a lot of other fans of the British classics),
