Route 80 continues to the next stop, Cheyenne, but because the weather is fair, the plan is to go straight over the hills. Cheyenne is reporting clouds; if it gets worse they can follow the VOR or head south to pick up the highway once they clear the hills.






In position on runway 21, the captain calls for the tailwheel lock.





The weight lost burning fuel on the last leg helps the DC3 break free of the runway at 7,300 MSL...





A liesurely climbing turn over Laramie, then they're crossing the highway as it climbs up into the hills.





Clouds are seen gathering in the east, and mist still covers the lower elevations.
