Aircraft formation flying

Hi guys, here's a few of my edits of historic formation flights. The first is of the ill fated flight #19 that got lost in the Bermuda Triangle. I found this to be particularly difficult because of the redundancy of editing the same aircraft with only slightly varying views. The second edit is my take on "Operation Market Garden", the largest Airborne assault ever conducted. The image depicts C-47s transporting elements of the 101st Airborne Division to their Drop Zone. The third image shows JU-52s escorted by JU-87 dive bombers over Crete during "Operation Mercury". The fourth edit is a flight of C-130s transporting elements of the 82d Airborne Division to a DZ in Panama. The final edit is a flight of B-17s with P-51 escorts conducting a daylight bombing run. All of these edits are extremely time consuming and boring to create due to the subtle differences in each aircraft's view. The reward comes from seeing your vision come alive in a photo-real image. Enjoy guys, your comments are always appreciated......... Ziggy Image Image  Image  Image  Image

Can't say anything but good about any of 'em, but the B-17 edit is particularly well done. I've done a couple of these, though none so ambitious and well-executed as yours, and would use the world tedious rather than boring, but then, I'm probably splitting hairs.

They are all beautiful edits but of all of them I would have to say the B-17(s) is a masterpiece! Very well done indeed.

The first is excellent and the last one looks like it's straight of a AirFix box! Amazing!

Thanks Mike and Dave, it's very kind of both of you to say so. I really enjoy doing these epic battle scenes, but the risk is ending up with a cluttered mess. A lot of thought has to go into the picture's organization and flow to maintain harmony. I rely heavily on contrails, wing-tip vortices and smoke to control the action. Thanks again guys for taking the time to comment............. Ziggy

B-17s look fantastic. Reminds me of when I used to play "B-17 Mighty Eighth". Very atmospheric......It's a shame that game wasn't further developed.

Great Edits, and... Is that a group of battleships at the bottom of the second picture  ;D

The last one is by far my favorite, must've taken hours to get just right...

Thanks mates for all the kudos. SkyHawk, the ships under the cloud cover in pic #2 are actually transports ferrying supplies across the English Channel and yes all of these edits took many hours to complete. Thanks again mates, you guys make my day............. Ziggy

Hi Andy, it's always great hearing from you. SimV is a super website and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm reluctant to make a nuisance of myself by monopolizing any of the  forums with too much of my stuff. Actually, I'd really like to stimulate enough interest in "aviation art" to get all the guys posting their stuff............... Ziggy
