I thought I would try editing a seaplane.
The aircraft is from my FSX default, the deHavilland Beaver DHC2.
Scenery is FSX default, Friday Harbor, Washington, W33.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers, Mike

Goodly morning... :)

Well done Mike...very nice... :)

Just a little flying tip if you don't mind.... :)

When landing on what we call Glassy Water try not to land in open water with no outside visual clues.
Use the coastline, tree line, buildings anything because when landing on Glassy Water there are very few ways to tell one's height prior to the floats meeting the water.
Water is as hard as cement and many an aviator has done damage to their bugsmasher because of lack of experience and proper training.

There are also techniques for landing in choppy water but again training and experience is a major factor.

There are a few other Swampers and Float/Seaplane Aviators on this Forum who can pass on a lot more knowledge about Water Landings as well... :)

Now I will also say if you do a hard landing there are two things that are going to hurt, your butt and your bank account... ;D

Again wonderful work... ;)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Thanks Doug for the good advise. It all makes sense.
I will keep all these tips in mind for future landings of seaplanes.

Are there any other nice areas for seaplane docking and takeoffs?

Cheers, Mike ;)

Hi Mike... :)

Get a hold of Larry "Patchz" by PM him here at Simviation, he is a pro at this... :)

Now I think it is MoCat's Snow Dog Tours which has a lot of Seaplane and Float Plane Bases but Larry can tell you better as I believe there are several versions, maybe with different names but no sure.

I would hate to steer you wrong on that one... :)

Larry can probably give you some advice on Freeware Downloads right here at Simviation for Float Planes and Seaplanes.  (Seaplanes have hulls like a boat and Float Planes have floats or amphibious floats...but you knew that one... ;D)

Lot's of little bugsmasher fields available also for land and ski equipped aircraft available in the Simviation Downloads.

I use FSX and Vista and had many issues so can not wait until I see what happens with this new Microsoft Program called "Flight".

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
