An 18 year old shearer from Nindigully, Queensland would make history by being the only know Aboriginal pilot to fly during WW2.

For a person of non-European decent to enter the armed forces was very rare but the Royal Australian Air Force accepted him.

During WW2 Len flew 95 combat missions including ground attack and fighter sweeps over islands in the Dutch East Indies and New Guinea, he was unlucky to of entered the war a little late when the Japanese
were almost pushed back, he did not shoot any one down.
