Beetle on stone

Started working with layer masks now, this is a first serious effort at a decent picture.

Here are three versions of the same thing + the original picture which I got out of Ultra Fractal 5. I lifted the beetle and shadow from a stock photo by Xandert on Morguefile...

here:http://www.morguefile.com/archive/index.php?display=&terms=beetle&archive_max_image=12&

...and altered the shadow a bit and generally tried to make it look like the beetle wasn't just 'stuck on' or 'floating'. I think I was fairly successful but it still could be better. So both positive comments and useful suggestions are all welcome.  :)

The next 'project' should have something actually flying in it, off to start work now.

Thanks for looking!

Looks like a beetle on stone to me.  I don't see anything "floaty" about it.  Nice.
