Hey, Chris, looks great, M8! You've got a good eye for this stuff!  :)

You might consider making your images 800 pixels wide as more detail is visible. It will also make any "rough spots" show up!  ;D

There's nothing wrong with continuing to make them small if you choose to. If you make them larger, glitches will become apparent but the members will help you to solve those issues.  ;)

hey thanks!! nah i'll definately start to make them bigger the only problem i might run into other than the glitches would be the file size. i'd have to bring down the save quality of it to keep it in the 100kb max. but it shouldnt be too hard!!

Tweaking it a few times - saving it once, then looking how big the filesize of that one is, and saving it again with that in mind - normally means that you can keep it in the limits without any faults showing up.

THAT's what I mean about "community". THAT's what I mean about members jumping in to help with tips and hints. Very kewl, SB!  :) :) :)

My approach to the problem is much the same. I start out at the highest quality, see how big it is and then start increasing the compression (lowering the 'quality' setting a notch at a time) until it's under the limit.

If it really looks bad at 800 due to compression you can always try going down to 650 and see if that helps.

You'll find, Chris, that the more detail, the more kb. Get into something like a lot of water detail and the file size gets big quick!

Sometimes you've just got to bite the bullet and take the hit, hee, hee! However, all may not be lost. As Sytse recently mentioned, you can always do a bit of cleaning up after the fact. For example, sometimes it's clear parts of the sky that end up looking bad. That can often be easily improved by using a blur tool.  :)

Keep on keeping on, M8! You've got a bunch of guys here who can give you valuable tips and hints as you go along. THAT's community!  ;)

P. S. One other nifty little trick that I forgot to mention is that using one of the blur filters or a "soft" filter reduces the detail and the kb will drop way down. So, if the final image can stand a bit of that without "dying", even if it's just in selected areas, you can come out with a decent looking image that's under the limit by that method as well.  ;)

hmm... its an alright edit but

1.the plane looks so stuck on as to speak, you need to play around with settings to try and get it sitting on the background better
2.jaggies on the planes edges (air intakes especialy)
3.work on the cockpit, best way to do this is to. make a new layer, useing paint brush paint the GLASS on the new layer useing gray. erase the origional glass on the layer with the aircraft. set the new glass layer to mulitply and pay around adn you will get some decent looking cockpit glass. you may need to change the color and opacity a bit but it should work.

cheers
john

k thanks i'll try that. i think the reason there are jagged edges on the intakes is because i rotated the picture a little bit. i'll work on it thanks for the help!!
