SB: At 790 x 527 it was 553 kb! I had to compress it at a quality of 3 to get it under the limit. Usually the lowest I have to go is about 7. That REALLY trashed the helo big time!  ;)

john_uk: Oh, so you think that the members of this forum have been shoving their noses up my bottom, do you? You apparently have a high opinion of others.

FYI, "meh... helo looks like f****d" is not critique. It's not even English, for that matter. SB's comments are critique.

How would I rate this image on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best? I'd give it a 2. There are LOTS of specific things I don't like about this one. The difference between you and I, John, is that I can list them and name them instead of merely belching up, "meh... helo looks like f****d".

I wan't even going to post this one. I considered it a failed experiment. However, despite it's many flaws, I liked the overall look.

Now if you want to learn how to offer critique, John, why don't you use this image to practice on? Make a list. Be specific. Why? Because the purpose of critique is to help the author improve so it has to be something specific that the author can implement or change. So, be precise. Tell me exactly why the "helo looks like f****d".

Actually, John, no, I don't get the picture.  :)

That comment is certainly nasty BUT it doens't tell me a thing about how to improve the image! You can make nasty comments if you so choose but don't confuse that with critique, M8!  ;)

Critique requires actually seeing the image and making a thoughtful analysis of it's strengths and weaknesses. That takes some effort and insight. Saying something like, "That sucks!", doesn't require the use of one's higher faculties and it is not of any help to the author.

Spitfire Boy offered specific, thoughtful critique. He pointed out something which I can actually do something about! As a result of his cirtique, I thought about solutions and came up with this revised version which is less grainy.

Do you see what I am getting at? Don't be nasty, be helpful. Any dolt can say something nasty. In terms of making images, what is the point of being nasty? Say something which will help the author to improve his work. THAT is what critique is about, M8!  :)

Thanks, Spitfire Boy!  :)

John: "...helo looks wrong" is a lot more specific than "meh... helo looks like f****d", isn't it.  ;D

Hey, Bro, if you can tell me by looking at these images that the "helo looks wrong" then you should be able to tell me by looking at these images what's wrong with it. Compression can cause problems but we don't know if what you are seeing is a compression problem or not because you haven't told us what it is that you are seeing. So, what's "wrong" about the helo, M8!

An-225: Thanks, M8! Just got rid of some of the graininess.  ;)

Lmao you'll get there Don eventually....   I like it and the overall impression mate is striking.   It's hard to work with white paints especially on the non lit side.  Anywhere where I can see this in its full glory?
