Well done on isolating the aircraft so well.
However, I think the blur is done too excessively and in the wrong direction, judging by the direction (top to bottom) the aircraft is in a steep vertical climb. However, it's a good start. Try being a little less excessive in the use of the blur effect, and try and imagine the direction of movement the jet would follow, and angle the blur to try and reflect this (a side on shot would be the best idea). :)

Of course, I'm no editing genius so feel free to disregard what I say!

Working off what heathaze said, i think the blur is in the right direction, but since there is a horizon in the shot the blur should be faded out as the distance becomes farther away so you dont have the horizon blurred.  That's what is causing it to look like the plane is going straight up.  I realize that that is a very difficult effect to pull off though, so this was a nice effort.  I like the effect you created a lot although i agree that it might be a little over done.

Well I'm guessing that you made it that strong so it's kind of unreal on purpose Mic?  Because I doubt you were heading for realism...it looks like you were just heading for a cool effect...with is definately what you came up with ;).  Personally I think it's really trippy...not realistic, but sick nonetheless 8-).

i think i agree with heathaze here, the plane is nicely isolated. but the blur is in the wrong direction, i think it would of been better if you  isoltaed the groud and blurred it towards the vanishing point, this would then give a real sense of speed

Which can be done with a Radial Blur (set to zoom).
