I just entered these two pics in the Red Arrows screenshot competition over at SSA. I wasn't too sure about the smoke.

I forgot to edit in the lights. I'll get to that later.  :)

Wow, very impressive.  Looks great at first glance and each consecutive one as well.  I personally like the one with smoke better.  It looks a little bland without it since it creates a sense of depth.

:o :o :o

Okay I was planning to enter but it looks like I might as well scrap that idea :'( :P.

Like Immelman said, there is an amazing sense of depth in these shots and I think the smoke looks really good...I would enter that one if I were you ;).

I love the 1st, i reckon the smoke looks great! Awesome angle too, really stunning shot!  :)

One tiny thing though, i just reckon the colours look a little wierd, like the whole picture is slightly purple. I think it could look better if more realistic ones were used...just an idea though...

Thanks guys!

I got the smoke wrong though... It's supposed to be coming from the exhaust.  :-[

Cobra, I delibarately changed the colours, because I think it looks better this way.

I'll fix the lights AND the smoke later... ;)

I agree that the planes and clouds have better colours in the second. Trying to work out what's strange with the smoke.... perhaps it's too short and curves too much. Might look better nearly straight, or if in the distance all the lines were together, stretching away, and only curving away 'at  the last minute' as they split. Perhaps....  :)

OK, here's the final version for the contest. I didn't have any more time to change the paths of the smoke. I did change the position though and I 'turned on' the lights. I also changed the colours a bit. I wanted them to be somewhere in between the 1st and the 2nd version. Maybe I'll get to editing the smoke later... someday...

Thanks for the comments, guys!  :)
