as for the heat haze question from foo fighter.... i don't understand what you mean. in the game i don't think you can do it, i used photoshop to make all of the effects. lemme know if that answers your question.

I do understand that U edited this very photo, my observation about the heat haze is that should be great to see this fx into fs2004, everytime that engines are on and iddle should be great see this "smoke" comin out of 'em

foo_fighter- gotcha now. i agree that it would really be awesome to see this effect in flight sim. i think someone has made a jet heat effect on here in the downloads section. be sure to check under the miscellaneous files page. i downloaded it but it sounded a bit complicated to get it to work. maybe microsoft can take a note from Lock-On: Modern Air Combat becuz they have a distorted shimmer effect on their jet exhausts that is pretty impressive.
