Put it this way...
The term cold for the bypass air in a jet is purely relative, compared to that going through the engine core (which is very hot), it is "cold" air, but has still been next to a very hot engine core (if you look at Nexus' diagram) and has gone through compressors itself. Hence the "cold" bypass air is probably quite hot...
On a warm/hot day (English style, 30degC+), you can often see a heat haze above the ground, especially road surfaces/runways etc. Now this isn't particularly hot, they probably get to around 60 - 70degC max (?) if that.
