It's an impressive aircraft. I like big engines and these turbo's convey power. It was first flown in 1952, the Tu-95 was put into service by the former Soviet Union in 1956 and is expected to serve the Russian Air Force until at least 2040. Its the counterpart to our B-52 as a strategic bomber. It has a range of 9,400 miles (unrefueled) max. speed 545 mph and ceilng at 45,000 ft. I saw one takeoff in Berlin (1973) and the noise was painful.
