Painting...

Hey guys,

I took one of my recent shots and tried to give it the "painting" feel.

If I'm being honest I don't really like it, the effect is too heavy and the colours too dark. Compression really hasn't helped it either. Try using the effects a little more subtly next time.

Just trying to be helpful, no offence meant. :)

Hey, no offense taken Heathaze :).  I want the honest opinion...which is what you gave.  Thanks ;).

I think it is fairly dark...the original was lighter but I thought it looked better darker.  And the effects weren't meant to be subtle...it was supposed to look like a "blotchy" painting...not a sharp one.

I mean, I probably wouldn't want this hanging on my wall...but I thought it looks cool.  I'm not really sure how to make it look painting-ish without making it blotchy...any ideas?

Interesting effect, though more like a cartoon than a painting, perhaps....

To make it look more like a painting, I would imagine you paint over the top of the image in a different layer, but how?
Ask Simplex, he 'paints' with photoshop.

Cheers
