The Earth with No Atmosphere

Postby GeForce » Mon Oct 06, 2003 2:00 pm

This is what I reckon the world would look like with with no atmosphere. No air to diffuse all the Sun's light. Can you guess what I edited?  ;D

I would geuss the Sun was added and it appears the after burner has been altered a tad!

Cool pic! 8)

I belive the sun, flare, afterburner and maybe made the lights a bit brighter, just a bit?

Good shoots btw ;D

PS: Wait till Ken sees this, he can spot every editing detail, no matter how small

You're so close! The afterburners, Sun and flare have been editied, but not the lights.

There are three things you've missed. They are all very subtle, I don't know if you'll get them ;D.

Let's see if Ken can ;)

PS: I Ken can't get them I'll give you a clue...

You may have added the stars, taken out clouds or darkened the sky ?.....these are things which you can do without it being easy to tell, but the big one for me is if you had inserted the real "formation" lights on the fuselage to show as "on" rather than lighten and insert a fin illumination, it may have looked more realistic......
I know airlines like to advertise their fleet markings on the tail in the dark, but I'm not so sure about the military being very pleased with announcing their presence in this manner..............
There also seems to be a glow around certain areas of the airframe which may be a side effect of a weak feathered selection ?........I'm also not sure about the lesser detail of the main subject compared to the crispness of the stars ?.......Your cockpit lights seem to be a bit bright too, from the way they show the pilot ?........As far as those coloured flare bubbles are concerned........get some lens cleaner and a deep lens hood and you will be able to minimize the photographers worst boon when shooting towards a strong light source............ :-/

Lol, you're good, well done. The fin illumination you mentioned is not one of my edits surprisingly. I don't know if you have FS2k4, but the afterburner key turns on these lights on the F-16 Viper. Don't ask why. Also the cockpit lights, these are again part of the aircraft and I haven't changed them at all. I added a few stars, though not all of them. The plane was actually taken from another night shot, which explains the slight lightening around the airframe. The afterburner and lens flare are not very subtle. The slight "blurriness" of the plane is just FS2k4's soft camera effect, I prefer FS2k2's sharper image on my screen.

Anyway well done - the actual reason I decided to edit this shot is to remove some sky banding, the plane looked fine, but the sky was terrible. The "clue" by the way is in the Freeware Screenshots forum, where I have posted the original pic.

Well done, Jonathan

PS: I like the lens flare :'(. Lol ;D

How can that afterburner flaming if there is no air?  For that matter, if there were no atmosphere, how is the plane flying?    :D
