Sukhoi announced that the entry into service of Superjet 100 would be delayed.

The EIS was originally planned for November 2008. Sukhoi announced that the delay would be a few months, but did not give a specific date, because this would depend on flight test results.

Sukhoi hopes to have maiden flight of Superjet 100-95 by end of April 2008.

The Superjet cross-section has 324 cm cabin width, 213 cm ceiling height. Compares well with DC-9 (314 cm width, 205 cm height) or F-100 (310 cm width, 200 cm height).

It looks like our Russian friends are finally beginning to create new regional aircraft for the growing market. Even though I absolutely hate the thought of seeing classics such as the Tu-134 and Tu-154 disappear, this option is probably better for various country's economies.

Also, have you seen any more info on the new Tupolev Tu-334? It looks like a pretty nice plane as well.
