mystery aircraft

When I was near Fort Pickett in virginia, I saw these planes fly over, but I dont know what they were, so I took a picture. Image

That would be a Short C-23. ;)

An old instructor once commented when walking by one of those on the ramp "Someone should tell them it flys better if they take it out of the box".

Take a shipping container, bolt some landing gear and wings on it, and you have a Shorts.

Great work horse and like the Britain Norman Islander will get into and out of places with a good payload a lot of other aircraft can't.    ;)
