Sorry, but this does make me giggle, (though the company I work for has ordered 25). When the A380 was delayed, the Boeing "fans" all praised the 787 program along with it would not happen at Boeing etc, generally putting the A380 down (I am neither Boeing or Air Bus by the way).
This is the way of the development and production of modern aircraft. It is the norm now. Any date given out is a bean counters dream nothing more. It is something to keep the share holders quiet for a while.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
