What is it? 2

Think this might be a tad more difficult. Never seen one before yet I recognised it immediately. What is it?

Its VW powered.........

Indeed it is.

Clue: I flew a slightly different version of this in the ATC (Air Cadets).

It looks like a Slingsby with a VW air cooled engine shoved in the front....

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Correct. It's a modified Slingsby T. 31B Tandem Tutor (RAF Kirby Cadet Mk. III) glider. It has a simple undercarriage instead of the original skid & the fuel tank fits nicely in the covered over front cockpit.

This is what it originally looked like. Not much difference except for the engine.

It's only just been completed & this was its first outing.

Wow... I certainly recognized that wing, but didn't think it was a modded glider.
Looks like they're using a full VW engine, not a half of one, as is more typical. What a great idea- must get excellent mileage! ;D
