Nice find Theis. I didn't realise what the first picture was at first till I took a closer look!

You would want to try to bend the aircraft in the fifth photo, that's for sure!

Nicely done... I tried to leave a cryptic clue for that one in my last post, but forgot to mention which photo!

;D ;D ;D

DOH!

Am I right in thinking Theis made the mistake of leaving the serial number - makes googling very easy! It was the first result I got! ;D

Number 8 is a Stipa Caproni. A very interesting concept. We actually discussed this some time ago. More details here. http://www.airbornegrafix.com/HistoricAircraft/ThingsWings/StipaCaproni.htm

I could tell you most of the others but would be cheating. ;)

And that is correct Doug! :D

Image
From the familiar design halls of Italy's Caproni comes the naked horror of the Stipa, built in 1932 to test the thrust effect of a tubular fuselage. The 120 Hp. DH Gipsy III yielded a top speed of 81 Mph, and the lift effect of the tube made the landing speed 42 Mph.

And sure it is the Beardmore Inflexible
British machine of around 1920, an experimental all-metal monoplane. One built.

lets see if you can guess the rest! :D

Correct!

Image

This 1920 tandem-wing monstrosity used three sets of triplane wings left over from WW1 bombers, bolted to a 100 {!} passenger flying boat hull. The 9000 square foot wings were equipped with ailerons and the rear set were elevators. Power was by eight 400Hp. American Liberty engines in pusher and tractor sets. It flew once, a short straight-ahead flight, upon landing it was damaged and thankfully abandoned.
