This aircraft was found in Photo section under "Two for Tacit" posted by Rimshot.

I found the aircraft interesting to say the least so I did a little research.

There are some videos as well.

Thanks Ken :)

What I found interesting about this aircraft was the sea state.

I sure wouldn't trade in an "Otter or Beaver" for it but it is an unique design.

Hi Ken:

Have you ever seen a BE-103 on the West Coast?

I do not think it would be able to handle the sea states on the coasts or Great Lakes.

As with most russian stuff... all published figures include a quite wide safety margain... usually a 10% overload doesn't hurt takeoff performance at all

In fact Doug, I've never seen one yet, .....but I do keep my eyes open for all types......I think the most radical one (amphib) that I have seen was the SeaWind 300..........

Hi Ivan :)
Having flown Canso's, Amphibious Otters and C185s in sea states greater than 1.6 ft and having watched the videos several times I wish they had of designed this wonderful looking aircraft with a deeper hull.

The video shows the wing on top of the water, an unique design yes but limits the aeroplane landing on a small remote lake with a strong crosswind.
The design really limits the dropping of a wing during landing or takeoff.

Still I find this design appealing and unique. :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
