Interesting fact : Test Pilot Roly Falk, barrel-rolled a Vulcan to prove it COULD be done , he was told NEVER to do it again.
I wonder why?

at the time. The vulcan at operational altitude could hang with some of the best fighters so a barrel roll shouldnt have been to much of problem. Or so i have read.
Just a year or two to go and this majestic bird will take to the sky again. And i dont care where i am, i will make it a priority to get to see that first flight:)

i dont know where it will be. However if you do a search for vulcan to the sky, it will come up with the info you need.

The reason why the barrel roll trick was banned was that it was a tad dangerous for lesser mortals, such as RAF bomber pilots
I haven't got a firm date on XH558s return to the skies, but I've still got plenty of video footage, quite a number of photos, and of course a nice big collection of Vulcan books.

First flight IF it happens will be from its home base at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. The last time frame I saw suggested late 2005.
For all those young chaps who never saw a Vulcan in flight I can only sum it up with one word, Awesome

I see it flying at Southend Airshow once - it made the damn pier shake

Loved it absolutely loved it
Then got to see it at Southend Airport(they still have one there - does taxi-runs every now-and-then)

I imagine they will tone the disply down a bit to help extend the life of the airframe, but the sound of those four Bristol Olympus 301s at full power will be worth the airshow fee on its own. A true show stopper, the Vulcan has been sadly missed since it retired.

I saw the Vulcan displayed many times over the years. There were often more than one at the old Farnborough displays. It was always the star of the show at the RAFA display at Shoreham. Everyone loved it, even old ladies. It's party trick was to disappear from view, making everyone think it had gone. Then it would come in from the sea, creeping up behind the crowd before lifting the nose almost vertically & opening up those 4 Olympus engines to full power. This was quite deafening & made the ground shake. You could feel the sound go right through your whole body & your ears would ring for the rest of the day. The only way I can describe it is awesome, a much-abused word I rarely use. I would love to experience this again.

I only just noticed this, you'd need to hire a bloody helicopter to get in that cockpit.  ;D

Take-off weight : 150lbs (68kg)

I saw that Vulcan (model that is flying last year. It looks and sounds fantastic. I'll dig out the pics I took.
