Well what else would I be posting about. Now I've got quite a collection of Spitfire stuff, but I'd like to get my paws on more pictures of MkV/IXs and also any technical data anyone might have, especially diagrams.
Meanwhile anyone wishing to find an existing Spitfire or other cool stuff about Supermarines finest should check here http://www.supermarine-spitfire.co.uk

Russia got spitfires by lend-lease.
they usually changed the guns for russian ones, and engines were often replaced with the ones used on YAK-9's

I have heard rumours that in various storage areas in the soviet union/russia there are crated up WW2 aircraft tanks etc that we delivered but were never used.

Ozzy, did the russians ever try top replace the merlin with the M-105(VK-105) enginge?

I've never heard of any doing this Ivan, but since you brought this up I'm looking into it. I haven't found any evidence so far, but if I come across anything I'll let you know.

They can put a merlin in a Yak-3 (though it loses the spinner SHVAK cannon), so why not the other way around

'Russian spitfire' rebuilt, and there even is one with working guns flying as a private aircraft
