Hi Hagar

I never attend an airshow hoping to see the best performances. As you say, too many restrictions  ::). I always have aimed for practice sessions.

I can think of at least a dozen (frightening  ;) ) occasions when I have seen an exciting performance only for the pilot to be banned from flying at the airshow 'proper'. In two instances that I can think of, the aircraft were overstressed and was retired shortly thereafter.

BTW, I still can't imagine looping a Walrus...... :o ( not that I doubt what you say, I just can't imagine it!!!!!)

The first country to have made enquiries about the Spitfire were Yugoslavia, and the order was dispatched on the 28th January 1938 ;D
This was also part of an order for Hurricanes and Blenheims as well ;)

Ozzy

PS. I can't find any references to a twin engined Spit (I'm still looking) but I did find some to the Supermarine 305 which was a two-man fighter...

According to my source, the Yugoslav delegation was the second  :)

So does anyone know the answer?

Are you perhaps talking about the unconfirmed order by Lithuania, which was allowed to lapse?
I know that in early '38 Japan ordered one, and Egypt 18.

Stab in the dark. The good ol' US of A.
This is my last pathetic attempt at showing my ignorance in public - for now anyway. :o

Hi Ozzy        Hi Hagar

Sorry, but No!  and  No!   ;)

As I said before -

"The first country believed to have made enquiries for Spitfires was    ?   which sent a military commission to Woolston and to Eastleigh for flying demonstrations."

The above is a word for word ( with the keyword missing  ;D) extract from the book.
