step by step analysis...

Not a civil plane
Too large for a fighter, should be a bomber then
Name in the right lower corner isnt a contructor or design bureau

Anyway... its a Grigorovich TB-5, and it nearly crashed on one of its test flights

I was thinking russian (the writing and the fact it was in a commando comic a while back) but couldnt put a name to it.

I was thinking russian (the writing and the fact it was in a commando comic a while back) but couldnt put a name to it.

99% sure that they had a Tupolev SB-2 pictured there (if it was in spanish civil war republican colors)

Nope it was definately not an SB2...I cant remember what the story was called but it was set in  Finland.

I'm seeing this a bit late, but my first thought was a
bomber version of the Fokker F.32 airliner..
