those marketing guys at lockheed are really High on themselves arn't they, they wanted to call the 22 the Lightning II too, this from the same company that made the Original P-38 Lightning, come on.  I would have called it the F-35 Money Hole lol.  Couldn't they atleast call it the Lightning III, I mean that the YF-22 should count for something.  This is purely PR

be glad you werent in the hangar the day they brought the 50/50 mock up of the USMC and USN/USAF the boeing X-32. you would have known immediately that this plane was not gonna be approved. designated as a fighter, who in their right mind would mount the gun INSIDE the intake!!?? thats just barely scratching the surface. i wont get into the other issues with this P.O.S. plane.

now, as far as the "Lightning" goes...its not fitting. lockheed, no pun intended, jumped the shark with this one. i think reaper would work, but everyone has to be PC these days. BAH!

a more fitting name for this plane would be something along the lines of maybe Aggressor, Shadow, Hawk Owl, Dominator II, Havoc II...maybe Facet? (more fitting for the 117 though)..i dunno, lightning just doesnt fit...
