But it is coming.  They're already building airports with the longer runways that will be required for it.  I forget how long it needs, but it's a lot.  I think Denver's new airport has a big enough runway.

Yup, the plane you see being built there is going to be used for testing, and will eventually go to Fed-Ex, at least that's what I'm hearing.

Most runways won't need to be lengthened, as the A380 will have better performance than the 747-400.

What will need to be changed is the parking areas. At KLAX for example, the parking areas are so small that when 2 744's are next to each other, clearance at the wingtips is just over 4 ft. That's why you must get positioned under a tug, and not your own power at LAX.

I have no idea what the airport are planning to do about this, I hope they can sort something out! LAX is a nice airport.....except for the snooty security guards, as I found out first hand....
