We who fly the American Flag, sing our National Anthem, and say our Pledge of Allegiance owe much to those who long ago made these things possible today.

'Every person in this auditorium is under the protection of our American Flag. If you don't want to say the Pledge of Allegiance, you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance. But you will stand in respect while the rest of us do."

- Mr. Francis McAloon, 10th grade auditorium home room teacher, 1964. The next day, the few sitters (only maybe 3 or 4), stood in silence and respect. I never forgot that lesson.
