Mojave 1,000mile race & 70s Barnstorming

Video starts with an epic 1,000mile pylon race with warbrids and a DC-7 piloted by the legendary Clay Lacy in Mojave!

2nd half is some fantastic footage of vintage airshow acts including Art Scholl in his modified Super Chipmunk. For those that are not familiar with Art Scholl, the movie 'Top Gun' was dedicated to him as Art entered a fatal flat spin in a Pitts during filming. A real good 'stick' he was!

We have one of those at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Previous owner put it into a flat spin and it pancaked at low speed and low altitude. He made it out with 'just' a few back injuries. Plane was rebuilt and the wife told him to get rid of it! So now she sits in the museum cockpit open so kids can get in it :D
Cute little thing!
