... Orville and Wilbur Wright made

"... The world's first successful controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903."

Here is the first eyewitness account of a Wright airplane in flight, written by Amos Root. Root was known as one of the World's foremost beekeepers, and developed methods and practices that are still being used today. Root is also known for publishing the first eyewitness accounts of the Wright's first flights around Huffman Prairie, the field Orville and Wilbur used as their takeoff and landing area.
