New Jersey's Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company churned out the world's first beer can on January 24 1935, stocking select shelves in Richmond, Va., as a market test. The experiment took off and beer drinkers haven't looked back since.

Cheers!

I have always preferred my soft drinks and my beer in bottles. They taste better than in a can and with a bottle you can observe whether there are any foreign objects inside. Not a thirst quenching prospect. If you have ever purchased a soda pop that had a cigarette butt or some other object in it you would get in the habit of looking before drinking.

I agree. Drinks are much better out of a glass bottle. And since I read a news article about a guy finding a decaying frog in his can of Pepsi (well, he actually found it in his mouth) I sometimes find myself making sure there's nothing in there now.  :D Glad I drink clear drinks like Sprite most of the time.
